Rust in pan

I made a barrel evaporator this year first year I've ever made syrup along with a homemade pan. There is rust showing up in the bottom of te pan where I used a wire wheel on a grinder. Is there anything I can do to get rid of it or just quit using it. I'm upgrading for next year would like to finish out this year with it.

You can still use it but don't clean it anymore. The nitre will coat the bottom of the pan and cover the rust. You will probably make darker syrup but there shouldn't be an off flavor issue. This is a problem that the old timers had with English Tin pans and they made plenty of syrup in them.
