Checked my taps yesterday and noticed the 5/16 plastic taps with tubes running into my 5 gallon jugs had very little sap in them. I noticed most of the sap is running down the tree.
The spout is in the tree on an angle.
My regular metal taps and plastic buckets were full of sap.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Sometimes when the lines are frozen up and the tree tries to run, it forces sap out around the spout.
Also, if the end of the 5/16 was hanging below the liquid level, and the sap froze, it will prevent the line from running.
or possibly the spouts were pounded into the tree to hard and the tree split?

this may be obvious but I will add it anyway. maybe the wrong bit or the drill wobbled when tapping making the hole irregular. or,like my first tap on tubing, I put the wrong side of the check valve onto the hose. the sap couldn't get by the check valve. silly me.
