I know several people on the forum are building or have built small units based on information that I among others have provided. A couple of issues have surfaced that people should keep in mind.

Membrane cleaning:
You need to make sure you do not exceed the maximum pH that is recommended for cleaning your membrane. For nanofiltration membranes such as the Filmtech NF270 or the Axeon NF3 the maximum cleaning pH at 95 F is 11.0. Using a combination of a higher temperature and/or higher pH can cause damage to the membranes and allow them to pass more sugar into the permeate.

For Filmtech NF 90's, XLE's and Axeon NF4's the maximum cleaning pH at 95 F is 12. Note: 12 pH contains 10 times the NAOH or soap as pH 11 and therefore is much stronger.

ProCon Pumps:
Several models of ProCon pumps come with internal relief valves and several do not. Be careful and don't order a pump with a relief valve setting below 200 psi or you will seriously reduce the capacity of your RO.
