Drilling and tapping Releaser

Any problem with cracking or splitting manifold when drilling/tapping releaser for a new mainline? Any suggestions on how to do this other than taping area off before drilling?

Would hate to crack my new releaser!

When my uncle bought his new realeser they didn't use anything special. Just drilled it out and tapped it. I would consider getting it inside where it could warm up before drilling though.
