How can I get a better boil I have a 2x5 flat pan with one divider best I can get is 15 gph seems like a lot of heat is going out the stack looks like a torch arch has archboard and bricked also has auf just can't seem to get a hard boil

How much space under the pan? You need to restrict the area after the firebox to force the heat up to the pan.

Have about a 4 inch space after the fire box using dry pine slab wood split small

15gph out of a barell?..Whats the problem. I am getting 4gph with one thats insulated and firebricked. Have made 2 gallons of syrup so far.

how deep are you running the sap? 15gph on a 2x5 flat pan sounds pretty good to me. And do you mean oil tank or oil drum? Sounds like an oil tank. (not a 55 gallon drum)

You might need to force the fire up into the pan - and make the fire box smaller. How think is the pan material?

I can get 15gph on a 2 x 3 flat pan, you should be doing better. How deep is your arch under the pan? You want to make sure that you keep the heat & flames up against the bottom of the pan.

Been running 1 inch deep from top wall of fire box have about 4 inches fire box is 20x20 did get a new blower now getting about 17 it is a oil tank
