Anyone else out there not getting a lot of sap yet. I have 100 taps and only collected 35-40 gallons today.

Glad it's not just me! Collected around 250 gallons on 230 taps so far this season. Put half of the taps out on March 8th and the rest on Saturday this past weekend. Past two nights have been above freezing then we're freezing up all day tomorrow. Maybe things will be better on Thursday!

Don't worry, I think most of us around here are in the same boat. Just hate hearing how people around us are swimming in sap!

Wake me when it really starts running!

not much running here in northern NH. tapped last week and got 100 gallons of sal from 600 taps. seems typical though with the cold weather, deep snow and deep frost.

Sorry guys but I am on the VT NY boarder and it is flowing very well here. I don't have a accurate total because I was in the bush at 3 when the sons got home from school and fired up the evap but at 11 it was running very slowly and we had been boiling on a 2x6 since 4 and still had over 1000 gallons on some where around 700 taps in so far. Many lines yet to get in as the snow had us buried and many lines damaged that had been buried. Have to replace a pump in the RO since the heater in it quit some time along and the supply pump is cracked. Had a spare but not the fittings to get it put back in.

Good Luck and when the snow gets down to 2' we start to run pretty good. Took til noon for the lines to start to thaw with the overcast morning.

I hope it runs soon. I just upgraded to a 2 by 6 with drop flues. Need to be able to fill that thing and keep it running.

I'm in Saratoga county and I've had a similar slow start. Thirty taps, 40 gallons, though my run yesterday pretty much doubled everything previous. But I boiled down my first sap and the syrup was amazing, really light and full of flavor, 3% sugar content.

I'm tapped in Niskayuna right now, 20 taps and only boiled once , got about 20-25 gal. Of sap and boiled to 1/2 gal of dark syrup. I've never gotten dark before, this is my third year, always been very light. Just wondering if that normal or did I do something wrong?

Get ready guys. Monday was a banner day for me. I got about 20% of my production of last season in one day. Two days in the deep freeze and Friday should be a good run day too. I would bet tha you will have plenty for that 2x6.

I have only 13 gallons of sap thus far. Probably another 2-3 in the bags on the trees. Lets hope the weather holds a bit longer. I am way behind last years low yeilds.

I made 2 gallons last night and I am going to throw in another 30 taps today just to make sure I get enough. If it runs I will be up to my ears in sap but I would rather be looking at it, than for it.

I'm in northeast ohio, about 30 miles south of lake erie. Typically by this time I have processed about 5000gal. of sap ,so far this season I'm, at 1060 gal. Now there are some on this site around me that say this is not the case with them, I have a hard time believing that this isn't affecting everyone. There's always next year I guess.

250 gal sap so far, about 3 gal of syrup... all medium. Nice, sweet pans but can't do a thing now. Don't even want to try and clean some tanks while waiting for the next run... I'll have a solid layer of ice on them.

I'm going skiing! Maybe it'll run while I'm away.

I remember reading on here a while back that we were supposed to have a good year because there were a lot of seeds on the trees or there weren't seeds on the trees or something like that. Well, at least I'll have a head start on next year's firewood.

280 plus gallons from todays collection. Lots of overflowing buckets. I was so worried earlier and now I'm loving it.

Well had a fun year, not as much as I expected but had a good time with the grand kids, my assistants. I'm getting cloudy from my silver that ran first. What happens if you boil cloudy sap? It's still running right now.

called it quits, got 3 gals of cloudy sap for twenty tap. We had a good season, made 3 1/2 gals. And spent some good time with the Grand Kids. Good luck to all.

yes, it was a good night the past two nights. Didn't pull in a ton but worth a boil today. Sitting in the shack feeding the arch. Making dark syrup - just what I was waiting for!!! Trees started donating sap again this morning. Hoping for at least one more boil tomorrow... now I'm really running out of wood!!!

Even if I end up not boiling tomorrow it was a good season. Very late for us but still worth the efforts. Hoping to come in with 50 gallons on 233 taps. Not bad, not bad.

Good luck to all.Yep, I'm with you - pulled the taps today after they had shut down / gone cloudy over the weekend. My sugars (versus my still cloudy reds) had kicked back into high gear today after the freeze last night but I made enough for our use and some friends so I'm happy.

I'm looking at 25 gallons on 150 taps for the year. Had some real slow trees this year, I got more sap from 50 taps in sugar maples than I did the 100 others. Next year I am going all sugars. Just need to pick up a tractor so I can get into the woods and collect.

I am familiar with that area. I teach in the ravena district and live not to far from there. Maybe one day I could come take a look at your operation.
