Shurflo Filter- Teflon Tape Needed or Not?

This eve playing around waiting for a real run of sap I took off my Shurflo Ice and debris filter, cleaned the screen and twisted it back on.

Now, I am thinking should that have Teflon tape on the threads of the filter, I did see a rubber "O" ring ?

This vacuum thing is all new to me and I just want the best I can get.
