guzzler ge-0501n setup

only getting 5 inches of vac. when I shut valve to pump line only drop 1 inch in 5 minutes so no major leaks in lines. some sap but not a lot.instruction say need check valve if lifting over 12 ft. do I need a check valve or am I missing something?

hope I just answered my own question. I installed a strainer for ice . use tape on threads on pipe but not on strainer cover could not hear leak over motor.

That should have a gasket where it meets the housing.

got at tractor supply no gasket check tomorrow see if it should have

Put check valve before and after the pump.
