Hey folks,

want some input on where to place the pan on my oil tank arch. you can see in the pics that we have a rail running from the front to about 3/4 of the way back but this year we only have a 2x2 flat pan. we wanted to leave the option open for a second pan for next year.

our initial thought was to have the pan further back towards the stack then we have insulation and a metal plate that would go in front of the pan closest to the door that we could seal to keep smoke and heat in.

would it be better though to reverse the 2 and have the pan directly over the fire?

i have updated pics i can post later. it is fully welded and firebricked at this point. hoping to run this weekend!

thanks for the input.

Put the pan over the fire and then use a pot or something over the rear cover as a pre-heater. I did the same thing the first year.
