Installed first 500 taps on bags over this weekend. The hard maples have started to flow in southern Minn on areas with sunshine. Here is hoping for a better year than last which was very short.

Tapped 85 trees yesterday. Hoping Friday night is the first run on the SL evaporator.

Set 35 taps near Little Falls yesterday. Some are dripping slowly. One test tap, for fun, near Mankato is also dripping very slowly.

South of Rochester, MN. Set 44 taps on silver maples last weekend. About 70% are dripping slowly. 50 gallons of sap in shed. Hope we get some cool nights soon.

Guys and Gals
Collected 40 gallons for the week yesterday. Not enough to cook yet but we are hoping we can cook tonight.

Very slow around Little Falls. Only pulled 25 gallons of sap from 35 taps Friday and Saturday. Dissapointing. I couldn't force myself to dump it so I fired up the evap and cooked to sweet. Will freeze and dump in with the upcoming batch.

The few taps I have in Boxelder near Mankato have been producing over 1 gallon sap per tap the last couple days.

Wife checked our 140 taps today. 5 gallon buckets on drop lines. Most had at least a gallon, some had 3-4 in them - all frozen tight.

I thought my taps would be running wild today after the nice freeze last night. Not so. Tomorrow perhaps.
I'm boiling 55 gallons from the past 4 days. It should be done around 10 pm

Motley area, trees also stopped flowing for the past two days. What small amount of sap collected is frozen in the bucket.

Leinie, That is strange. Our trees ran like crazy yesterday and we woke up to full sacks this morning. No freeze but it ran all night and is still running briskly.

Brought in 210 gallons this weekend. This makes 360 total. Will finish cooking down 110 by this evening. Flow will probably end this week looking ahead at temps.
80 gallons collected today puts the year total at 230 gallons or so this year and about 5 gallons finished, still a lot of sweet in the evaporator hopefully the season lasts a bit longer

Well, they ran today ! 30 gallons out of 8 taps. Could have been more, but 4 buckets were overflowing when I got there. They are big yard silvers. I have a feeling they will run all night and until about noon tomorrow. Then I think I'm done. They will be budding soon with the warmer weather coming. They've been running their usual 3% sugar.

They ran well today. wife pulled 150 gallons today and still had about 1/3 f the taps to go when she had to quit (140 taps). boiling now and will go another hour or two and grab a few hrs of sleep and get back at it. Lovely, crystal clear stuff.

I collected what little was in my 8 buckets today and pulled the taps. I have my last batch boiling since noon and it should make a gallon or so. I will finish out with about 4.5 gallons from 8 taps.
Leinie how much sap did you get out of 8 taps to get 4.5 gallons of syrup I was always told as a general rule of thumb is one tap will usually yield one quart of syrup just curios how you did so well what is your sugar content in your sap?

You did exceptionally well for 8 taps. Was it getting buddy tasting yet?

592 gallons from our 91 taps so far this season. Boiled 56 gallons last night and had one draw off. We have bottled 112 pints so far this year. Started out really dark and now we have been making really light . This week may be the end with warm temps.
