was wondering if i could use a clam bake pot to filter into then bottle it out the spigot anyone try that and any suggestions on best way to filter and bottle,i am drawing off a continuous flow 2x3 evaporator and was hoping to draw off and filter it thru a cone filter into a pot with spigot so i could bottle it right away and not have to take it into the kitchen to finish or is this a step im going to have to do any advice would be great

We are looking to do the same thing. I filtered it off the 2x3 on Sunday and then brought it into the house to finish.. Took three hours and I don't want to be doing that. I found a stainless pot with spigot on a few sites for a good price that people use for brewing beer. Wondering if we can use that?

Quite a few people use brewing pots they work great and can be had brand new for fair prices amazon has a bunch of them. A lot of people filter and bottle as they make syrup saves time and handling.

I use one to filter into, heat up and bottle. I forget the brand, but found it on Amazon. Also got a SS adapter to reduce the spigot size (the spigot is threaded) on EBay.

I find it hard to bottle consumer size jugs right off the evaporator as it is difficult to get the density exact. (This may not be a problem if you are not selling the syrup)
Also, with the small size draw-offs you will get from a 2x3, it will be hard to keep the syrup/filter assembly hot enough so that the syrup will pass through the filter easily. It will work better if you built a box around the cone filter (and a cover) to hold in the heat.
