I have a new cdl supper hobby evaporator , I have a good boil using water in the rear raised flue pan but just a very light boil in the front pan. I s this normal ? How hard should it boil in the front pan where you draw off ?
Thank you

When you have close to syrup in the front pan instead of water it should boil just fine. Syrup will boil easier than water.

There are a couple other reasons:
- If you throw the wood in too far, you won't get as much heat under the front part of the evaporator.
- Overall boiling improves after an hour of so when all the bricks get heated up and you get a good bed of coals under the fire
