I currently installing my tubing to the gravity and I wonder the maximum amount I can have per line (5/16).

Can I have 150 taps on a line?

8-10% slope, 600 feet in length...

With that degree of slope, you could have up to about 50 taps per 5/16" lateral line.

Thank's you DrTimPerkins ,

I am currently trying to install my tubing ( first year). I have a line 600 feet long with only 20 taps. I would like to add 4 secondary line(lateral line) Each would be about 100 feet (MAX) and have 25-30 taps. I wonder if my main line(5/16) can accept as many taps?

120 taps, but it would add 30 taps every quarter for a total of 120...

Thanks' ou for your time, it's appreciate!

Technically you don't have any mainline. 5/16" (or 3/16") line is used as lateral lines and droplines. You shouldn't branch the 5/16" lines into each other. Each of those lines should run either directly into a tank or into a true mainline (1/2" or bigger diameter). The 5/16" line cannot handle that many taps at peak flow rates. It might be OK 75% of the time, but not when you really need it most.

With such good slope, you might want to consider installing a 3/16" tubing system (but again, you shouldn't branch the lateral lines).

Also....before you ask....DON'T VENT the system. It may look like the sap is running faster with it vented, but you'll get far less yield if you vent.

I will answer for Dr Tim since he won't be on here for a while due to syrup season. Venting eliminates all vacuum and introduces constant stream of bacteria from the outside air it is pulling in.
