I think I will wait until next week to tap.I think the trees have to have time to thaw out a bit , it was 10 below Fri. morn and it is about 15 as I write. Located in Elk County and have about 2 -3 feet of snow in the woods to carry sap. Anyone else up in this neck of the woods tapping or waiting. Good Luck

As late as it is now, I am tapping tomorrow no matter what. About four years ago I was already done for the season at this time. You just don't know how long the season will be any more.

I'm no expert but I think you should tap today. This coming week could be your whole season. The trees aren't gonna wait long to start budding once it warms up.

Put 3 taps in today to see if trees started to run. The 2 facing south started to run right away, the other is more north and had not started yet. Going to put more in tomorrow. Season is starting here in south central PA. Good luck to all.

I hung my 50 buckets yesterday and went back at 3 pm and collected 100 gallons of sap. It only tested 2 percent. I'm going to have to start boiling tomorrow. Have a happy syrup day

Going to wait til the middle or end of week. Got the shack dug out and cleaned some buckets up with my partner(my best friend and wife) Took us all day and part of Sat. tried to walk back behind the house to see how deep the snow was (it is obnoxious) Hopefully it will melt down some this week so you can at least get around. Hey it is is was it is, all up to Great Syrup Maker that looks over us all.He will provide it is written...Good Luck Everyone

I finished tapping my main line last evening. Now I wait for snow pack to go down so I can put out the buckets. Hopefully this will happen by Friday. Other issue is high water. My sugar bush is at the Confluence of two creeks and crossing the smaller one is my egress. Wish me luck.

I boiled 150 gallons sap over the weekend. I just left the shack and there was 100 gallons sap in the tank already today and the tank was empty yesterday. Looking like it may be a good week for sap. Now if I can find the time to boil during this week ,dang job gets in the way of a lot of things.

I hope we get a good run today. Not one super run yet this year. The pans are sweet, bit we are just going day to day, no excess.

Umpwood I was pass your place today and saw you were boiling. How's your sap flow been? I had to go out of town for a few days and I came home to almost 400 gallons of sap. Looks like its going to be a long weekend.

It has been a slow year, up until yesterday, then it broke loose. I am getting lots of sap now. I hope the next wek is a good one. Stop in if you get a chance.
