Anyone have any tips for washing the orlon cone filters? I thought I detected a faint musty smell in mine. I know not to use bleach but maybe baking soda or ? I've rinsed it several times in hot water and can't get rid of that odor. I might just have to get a new one. Thanks

Throw it away and get a new one. That smell may well be mold and contaminate your syrup. Also you will get off flavoored syrup by using a musty filter. Filters are cheap compared to ruining syrup, always have xtras.

For the amount of time you will spend trying to get that musty smell out, it would be better to buy a new one. Beyond rinsing that filter, I would not want to use any type of soap - just not sure you a) could get all of the residual soap out and b) might then have the scent of the laundry detergent. Just get a new one and be done with it. (just my two cents....)

Yep, I will replace. Hoping there was some way to wash good. I will just have to wash it better this year. Thanks folks!
