Sugar makers:

I just became aware of this new filter press recently. Anyone have

experience with using this type press. Filters are just rinsed in warm water.

We are considering purchasing a mechanical press and this new one

is similar in price to a 7" plate type press. Thanks in advance for your

opinions and/or experience in using the cylinder type.

I have seen them work. I debated wich to buy 2 years ago and decided to get one from D&G plate type. Almost think I should have gone with the cylinder though. They seem easier to use and to clean.

Scott(Powerdub) has one I think, so hopefully he will chime in here. I would have like to had one, but I picked up a new Lapierre short bank for $ 770 this past spring from the maple guys and I could justify nearly $ 1400 for the cylinder.

I can't find my CDL catalog to see if it is the same a Lapierre's siro filter but if it is, I like mine. It only takes about two minutes to change the filter and it will filter about thirty gallons of syrup before a change is needed. The web host's (maple guys) are Lapierre dealers, give them a call and price one. I don't think you will be disappointed in it.
