I started tapping over the weekend and I was wondering if I should sharpen my tapping bit since its a few years old or if I should buy a new one. I'm doing the bulk of my trees this weekend in preparation for next week so if I need a new one, I want to order now. If I can sharpen the one I have, all the better. It seems to be working fine but I thought I would ask.

I think it depends on the brand of the bit a little but you should get about 4,000 holes per bit.

I believe you will find it just as costly to have it sharpened, worring about getting the right bevel on the drill, for my money i started just getting new ones every 2 yrs

I touch mine up on bench grinder just like any other bit when needed. Just gota do the sharper point angle than standard bits

I do about 1000-1500 holes and throw them out. Cheap insurance in my mind vs leaking oblong holes.
