What are you thoughts on this maple? Could add about 75 more trees to the bush if not a trash tree. Bark doesn't seem as aggressive as a norway.

Based on those photos I'm thinking ash between the bark and the looks of the twigs on top (more stout than maple).

the bark looked too thin to be ash... although it has the V shaped bark. can you see any buds? that'll narrow it down. it's def a maple or ash with the opposing branches

Unfortunately I can't seem to get close enough to the buds to get a good look. I didn't think ash, like it was said, the bark texture isn't as deep

Me thinks it might be Bass. I have some that I always want to tap. I doubt if it is Ash - it is still alive.... However ---- I started to tap an Eastern Hemlock - till I looked up.

If it turns out to be ash, it makes nice firewood. A big trunk will yield beautiful lumber. The ash are dying off, so beginning to thin them will allow your other trees to fill in the space that might happen in a few years.

My first impressions were ash or basswood.
Ash has a corky appearance.
An earlier post mentioned using it for firewood. I've been heating my house for a dozen or so years with mixed hardwoods, and can tell you seasoned ash burns fast. Not as fast as popple, but it'd make great tinder for a boiler.

2nd and 3rd pics definitely ash. First pic hard to say. Not basswood as they have alternate branching and bark is not correct as well.

It looks like Green Ash, and not very healthy.
