Looking at ROs. What is the difference between brands? Are there any known bad brands? What should you watch for when buying an RO?

each brand has its own strengths. its a bit like ford, chevy, dodge discussion.
only one i have heard not so good things about is Waterguys, but that was a couple years ago.
how big a machine are you looking for?

For maple you want an RO with recirculation. That keeps the face of the membrane from getting clogged up with sugar so that it can maintain higher flow rates for a longer period of time.

You want to look for a few things.
Performance. Some ROs will concentrate at 8-12 percent on the first pass and some can concentrate up to 14-18 percent.
Resell. If you're looking to expand down the road and you outgrow the number of towers you can add, you'll want a brand which retains it's value.
Service. Sooner or later, you're gonna run into issues with your RO so it's important to purchase from a dealer that will provide service when it goes down (plenty of stories of having to wait days before being repaired).
