Is there any true, operational difference using a "T" vs. a "Y" connector in a 5/16 junction? Although intuition might make me think so, I wonder. I have "T"'s for drops. If I can use them effectively at branches, than I do not need to count & buy an additional fitting type.
Thanks,

There is a night and day difference. less turbulence on a y than on a tee.
I only use y on new drops after running out of tees two seasons back. Far less sap backed up in the drop and same drips per minute as the tee on the same tree.
I am high vac and less sap in the drop equals more vac to the spout.
Less sap to be pulled to the spout at night too.
Go with the Y

T's for drops are fine. I would avoid hooking two 5/16" lines together by t or y. I would run each 5/16" lateral to the mainline or collection tank separately.

Interesting insights. Do you think this goes for gravity also? Seems turbulence would be less of an issue, but there I go intuiting.
