My taps are going out Monday just a few miles in from lakeshore guys down by Shelby are already running lines

Too early for me, my arch is covered by 2 foot of snow yet and tapping by snowshoes would be OK but I am not going to haul it out bucket by bucket.

Last year I did use snowshoes and used an ice fishing sled to haul sap in! Luckily my snow isn't as deep this year!!

I started tapping this morning snow in the ditch is deep but went well no sap dripping yet. I got people already lining up for syrup before I can get the taps out

I'm a few miles to the north. Pulled 50ish gallons off 60 taps. Starting to loosen up a bit. You can see my set-up and build here. http://mapletrader.com/community/showthread.php?10535-Starting-a-flue-pan-build.

I had 15 gallons yesterday off of 30 taps and did not get a chance to check anything today.

I am boiling as I type. Almost done for the night. Got prolly closer to 75 gallons today. I think next year its time to upgrade to a bigger evaporator. Got wind of a lot more maples I can tap. Not sure if a 4x12 would be big enuff but the 8x16 is long gone. Anybody have a truck with a tank that's dedicated for sap?
