I also never put it to bed without a rinse/clean wash, then every other day I do a complete soap wash. For the rinse/clean I run a cold permeate rinse about 5 minutes, then do a hot permeate wash (120-130 degrees) for 10 minutes. Rinse again 5 minutes and put it to bed. The soap wash I do every 2, sometimes 3 days. For the soap wash, I first do a rinse/clean as above then:
TO SOAP CLEAN WASH

1. Give the R.O. a cold water backwash for 5 minutes.
2. Fill wash tank with 15 gal hot water (120-140)
3. Add soap to wash tank according to product label.
4. Let soap re-circulate for 10 minutes then discharge to drain.
5. Run a 10 minutes cold water rinse.
6. Change pre-filter.
If the membrane performance starts to slip, I do a soap wash, then an acid wash, then another soap wash followed by a rinse/clean. The sequence may only need to be done 2 or 3 times during a normal season, then it is always done after the season to put the RO to bed until next season. Then every 3-4 seasons I send the membranes out to be cleaned and tested.
