Any suggestions? Split a ball valve on water supply line to sugarhouse yesterday, what a mess. Water sprayed everywhere. System laid out to drain when not in use but forgot to crack 1 valve. Have had poor success in past in the cold weather working on this stuff. Keep fittings glue and cleaner in my pockets but still think glue freezes before it sets.
Any suggestions beyond waiting for a warmer day, its about 10*.

Ive dealt with this many times at work. Definitely get a sharkbite fitting. Not sure if you can find a sharkbite valve or not, but you could use a coupling or two or male/female and a threaded valve. Then in the future i'd highly recommend converting everything to pex. MUCH better resistance to bursting problems.

Also, ive had the best success with sharkbites when i clean the pipe surface similarly to cleaning copper then also apply a little silicone lube.

Good luck!

The cleaner temp makes no difference, but for gold weather get glue made for cold temperatures. Big box stores seldom carry it, but plumbing supply houses do.
