granite intead of fire brick?

"I know a guy" that does a bunch of remodeling and he "sometimes" gets granite counter tops. Would cutting one and lining a homemade block arch evaporator work?? or even help. Might look cool? LOL Thanks

Granite will crack and possibly explode. Fire brick will take the heat safely.

It wont take the heat, I have about 40 tons of granite countertop scraps as base under part of my driveway, its amazing the waste that is involved in making countertops with all the cuts and sink holes etc but that's just how it is
