the end of our sugaring

Well our farm has been for sale this past year,everyone wants it ,but no money. Last Thursday a real bad scare. Ron went into diabetic shock and almost died. We never knew. Spent a couple days in icu. Took him home Monday night. Really scary as his kidneys failed,but he's an old country guy and pulled through. We are just trying to manage all the changes. Lucky us,2 real nice youn g guys are going to tap and pump the sap from the bulk tank. Ron can run the set up from our house and have enough to boil to use his new mason. House hunting for a small place near a hospital and my family. All equipment,tractors,etc. Going with farm. Everything is ready to go for a small farming enterprise.

Sorry to hear about Ron. Glad he pulled thru. Keep that sugar in check.

I'm sure I speak for many here when I say we feel your pain and pray for all the best to come your way. When life's troubles hit hardest is when we see the best what really matters. So much of who we are is formed by our pain and struggles, the best metal comes from the best materials exposed to the highest heat, all the un-needed stuff is melted away. May God grant you and Ron a full heart of Love and healing.

Thanks to all. Here's an update. Ron and I met with a terrific nurse who just handles diabetes patients. She works at the hospital that he was in. Within 1 hour she calmed me down.explained everything in a reasonable manner and guided us in a simple meal plan. Ron has done so well between medication and very controlled diet he's doing beyond great. Lost 22 pounds and by next month may be off injectable insulin. We see specialists and were on a learning curve. I'm now known as the food police. He can have anything including his maple syrup just in small amounts. So greatful for his recovery. This will be a life long change but a small price to pay after being so close to death. He was able to enjoy the season and had a good time with people stopping by. Still will need to sell the farm though. It's just too much for the two of us. Hoping a nice young couple will want to take this over and make a go of it.

It's great to hear that you found the nurse you did. Glad to hear that Ron is doing so well, after the problems he had. Ron, pay attention to your own food cop, she does it because she loves you. God bless.
