We have an Airtech liquid ring pump. We change the oil every year using CDL oil . Was wondering if any vacuum pump oil would work just as well for 2/3 the $.

Try windward petroleum.
They coul match the oil for a lot less

From the view of a person that rebuilds pumps.
There are places that we can save money, check valves, tanks, tools that are still quality, etc,.

Then there are places that we would never cheap out...oil is one of these. The cost of good oil is off set by the expensive of a repair. It would be like putting bar and chain oil in the gas mix of a chainsaw. sure it will work for a while and then you need to fix the saw.

Spend the money on the good oil, and make a little extra syrup because the pump runs all season long. and didn't quit mid season and cost you a day or more of production.

Cheap oil in a pump can lead to some really expensive repairs.

You can change your oil at each 2 years if it stay clear.

Change it before only if the oil color change.

Condensation in oil reclaimer: white color oil
Sap in oil reclaimer: black color oil

Use the new grade 32 high vacuum oil. It cost less and it will be better than the Ecolo 32 oil.
