Finally got around to Insulating & Bricking my 30" by 10' Arch Today, it Has A 4' deep fire box & the intire Arch has 2" of insulation. I am happy with how it came out. I am A little concerned that you can compress the insulation if you push on the Brick hard enough. Only time will tell if it holds up.1067210673106741067510672106731067410675

it will be fine mine doesnt look as nice as yours but same principal. only put brick where wood is and under flue because I brush them. I still have heat transfer to the outside after couple hours into boiling but not like it was when I only had brick. I want to picture frame the outside of my arch with 1" square stock then do arch board and cover with stainless. so that would give me 2" of 2600 blanket and then 1" board. If you could have added AOF at bottom of top course of bricks all the way around the fire box you would see a huge difference in the boil.

Looks awesome good luck this season

Thank you Flat Lander, I will Have under fire Air this season . I hope to have AOF for next year or maybe the following one. I am only going to have 400 maybe 500 taps this year so I don't think I will be boiling too long.

Looks great Nate. I bet you are getting anxious to tap! Did you get the stack run up through the roof yet?

No I haven't got my stacks up through the roof. Waiting on my sheet metal guy for my steam hood & roof jacks & steam stack. Hopefully he will come through next week. I had 8-9 full bricks left over so I guessed pretty good on that one. My oil burner buddy gave me a. Big old oil burner for under fire air. Hopefully its big enough. How's your block arch coming along.

Well hopefully he comes through so you can get that project outa the way too. I'm trying to get some 22g sections of stack made, needing 12 feet, i would much rather have 2 sections than 6. I just got my base stack and the flange for that welded. Also got the front of the arch with some salvaged cast iron doors put on too as well as my grates. Just need to order some ceramic insulation and then brick the firebox and I'm ready to boil! Now if only we had some sap flowing haha.
