cellular game camera

Thinking of setting up a cellular game camera to text me some pics of a pumping station that's across town. There are all kinds of them on amazon, just wondering if anyone has ever used one?

An IP camera and prepaid mifi might be another option, but I don't really need video.

Although I do not have a game camera that is connected to. Y cell phone I have plenty others. I don't now if you can set any of them up for periodic times, they work off of motion or heat.

i have one, but have never set it up. requires you to have a pre-paid AT&T texting package. 10 bucks a month i think.

bought it from Chadwicks trail cameras. http://www.chadwickstrailcams.com/ seems like a very knowledgeable guy.

i had planned on setting it up across from my tank and getting a clear lexan pvc pipe with bright color ping pong ball in the lexan pipe as a sight gage to be able to monitor level in tank. also thought about putting a big vac guage on releaser to see if vac levels were holding.

you can text the camera and have it take a photo and text it back to you.

never got around to it but might work with Parker this year to put it on his bush in Hill which is 30 mintues away.

That is the camera I'm going to order. The only thing I'm worried about is the viewing angle. My building is only 6x10 so I'm hoping to be able to get the camera in a position to see what I need to see.

That looked like the best option on cameras for sure. I would just set it up on text command for pic retrieval.

I'll keep you guys posted on how it works. I'm hoping it will save me some time running back and forth just to make sure everything is running OK.

there are cameras that also use different carriers like verizon etc. was looking into them because of thefts from our fish and game club building. $350-400 were the prices I found online at the manufacturers but they were the no flash style so they are more expensive than what you would need.

So I spent my game camera money on a 2" gas pump....which I was glad that I did as soon as I used the pump the first day. Huge improvement over my 1" electric booster pump, this is going to make my life a lot better this year.
That being said I picked up a Straight Talk mobile hotspot last night, and the DLink 932L should be here Monday. The road into my collection building is getting soft and If I could monitor it from the sugarhouse it would save a lot of time for me. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to pair the two devices together, but from what little information is out there, it looks like it should work. I'll keep you guys posted. Anybody have any experience with a wireless IP camera and a mobile wireless hotspot? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully you'll get the bugs worked out so when I expand in a couple years, I can pick your brain. I'm putting a tank, pump, releaser setup a mile out in the woods.

The Chandlers up the road from me do all kinds of cool things with IP cam and internet controlled on/off switches. Im sure Bart would help you out.

I was able to pair my Dlink932L with the straight talk mifi, and view the camera remotely. The video is a little choppy but I'm sure its related to the cellular data. I'm excited to put it in to real world application tomorrow.
The camera was $46 from Amazon. Mifi was $80, and 4gb 60 day card was $40.
