New building and cupola

I am planning on a new multipurpose building with a 10 foot ceiling and a 4/12 pitch. I can't install the cupola at the peak so I am wanting to place the cupola at the mid point of the slope of the roof. Do you guys think that is location will work.
I use a 1/2 pint and can't justify a separate building to support my maple habit.
I was planning on a 2x4 foot opening.

It should work, but be sure you flash it properly on the uphill side to prevent water from falling into the pans off the roof.

Yeah, some sort of "cricket" will be needed on the upper side to deflect water.
