Cutting Ceramic Blanket

Seen it, read about it,...........going to order some tomorrow.

What is the best way to get a good clean cut on this stuff?

That'll work fine. Do not, I repeat, do not use your wife's good kitchen shears! They will be ruined! Don't ask me how I know!

put down a old 2x4, piece of plywood. measure out your cut hold down insulation with straight edge, level, sheet rock T and cut along edge. wear a mask and long sleeve shirt and gloves.

Just cut some this weekend. Get out the tins snips/metal shears. Super easy.

I used a rafter framing square and/or a 4 foot aluminum yardstick.
Determine where you want to cut, depress and compress the insulation as tight as you can against a piece of plywood. Then use a utility knife with sharp blade.

This brand is supposed to the least nasty as it is soluble,did a bunch of research a few years ago and this is the stuff to use. Some stuff out there is super nasty.

Use your ppe and keep airborne fibers to a min. I used to rebuild boilers in my former life before I knew about all the nasty stuff we were using.You may have to shop around but Superwool 607 HT is the stuff.

Try you best to not breath fibers, gloves, mask and long sleeves and clean up any scrap pieces into plastic bag.

Treat it as nasty waste material, it is not like house fiberglass insulation. It works great for our arches but not a healthy product to work with.
