There should be a sight glass on the end of it, should be 3/4" up in the glass I believe, there should be a line to indicate… I can't remember if it is the SP11 or SP22 that takes a quart of oil.

Yes. That advice is 100% percent right. If you don't have a sightglass on the outside of your tank then that's a different story. Let us know if that's the case and we can walk you through that

On the other hand, how much oil should a SP-22 take? It does have the site glass but when I drained it today I got over half a gallon and there is black grease like stuff in the bottom???? Any info about SP-22's and this?

the black grease like stuff is likely dirt that got in and the oil was not changed often enough. The dirt settled out. Clean that sludge and then put in fresh vacuum oil, until the sight glass shows it at mid point or a little above. Add slowly, because it needs to have time to flow to the glass tube. I added too fast one time and got it to just above half, then the level kept rising in the sight glass and it ended up over filled.

How do you clean this dirt out??? I'd imagine I don't want to use water as it will never dry out

Sight glass is cloudy with age. I know sp-22 takes just over 2 quarts. I was hoping someone noticed how much a sp-11 took
