My process
Boil. Test syrup from draw off valve. When its syrup draw and set my thermometer. I then prefilter into pale were I then fine tune over a turkey fryer. Prefilter and Orlon filter and once it settles through I then jar it into mason jars.
Is there something I can do differently to ease the process? Is it ideal to prefilter and Orlon filter from draw off. Give me some ideas. Don't have money this year for any new equipment so its on the cheap.lol

You can prefilter off the evaporator. Finish on turkey fryer then what I do thats cheap, is use a coffee urn to keep everything hot while filtering.
If you search here for coffee urn you will find some good info.

Somewhat joking but not really. "If this was easy everyone would be doing it"!
Everything sounds right but before you bottle it you should bring it back up to 180 deg F (no more) and then can it. That will give you the best long term results. The syrup in the jars should then keep for a long, long time.

I do. I bring it up to 185 and then put it in the jars. Grr I was in denial of one more step.lol. I guess I'm just looking for possibilities of knocking one or more steps out of the equation.

I bring it up to 185 as well before it goes in the jars and I've never had a problem.

I filter at 205-210, then pack at 185-190.

With the urn I set me filter bucket on top with the urn already heated up. I then bottle as I'm filtering.

How do you preheat the urn, with previously filtered syrup?
