Hi I saw on here last year a few folks were going to try putting 3/16 at the end of their 5/16 gravity lines.
I have about fifty 5/16 taps up and will be doing some 3/16 this year.
Will it create vaccuum if I put 3/16 tubing on the 5/16 line after the last tap and have 3/16 run to the collection tank?
Who on here tried this last season?
Thanks!

Never tried it but it seems like it might work if you had enough drop after you switch to 3/16 th. Although I'm not sure I completely understand how this works, the weight of the column of sap in the 3/16 th should create the vacuum. Not sure what happens when you transfer that vacuum to a larger(5/16 th) line though. Maybe put a vacuum gauge on the line and compare it to your completely 3/16 th setup. 50 taps may be too many for one 3/16th line. Good luck.

Hi I had 2 lines last year one with 28 taps and 3/16 line all the way.
Also had one with 24 taps 5/16 line to the last tap than 3/16 the rest of the way.
I couldn't see any difference between the two they both ran beautifully
