Hello PA Friends and beyond.
My wife and I are looking into the possibility of passing PA inspection and selling some syrup this year. However demand among our community and friends is high and production is low. So, to make the investment to pass inspection we would need to purchase sap, tap more local trees or just buy bulk syrup.
Ideally we would pickup and haul sap that has already been through an RO and finish it in house to keep the bulk of our products processed here. (within 100 miles)
Maple syrup would be the attraction but we would be selling multiple handmade products including honey and soaps, candy and jams.
Your thoughts on the who, what, where I could find these sap/maple resources would be amazing. Trying to keep it relatively local. We're starting small for now but ideally would like to see this become profitable.
Thanks!
