Has anyone ever converted a single clamp tubing tool to a two clamp? Seems like it would be pretty easy to do. And where can I find a long nut to use for the other clamp? This is the tool I have now. Got it with a bunch of equipment I bought a few years back.
Thanks.

Never converted one but the "long nut" is called a coupling nut and is available at almost any well stocked hardware store.

You can get the long nut at any hardware store, they use them to connect threaded rod. Cut it with a hacksaw in a couple minutes.

The trick to the conversion will be getting the two grips and couplers welded precisely square to each other so as to not flex the fitting and have a weak spot on the connector body or a weak spot in the tubing.

Good Luck.

Thank you for all the info. Will pick up some pieces and give it a try. I think getting it square should be easy. I think if I clamp something in the existing clamp and in the new one then weld.
Thanks again!

Paul , that will work , when I welded up the tool I use that's how I kept it aligned . I clamped a metal rod in both jaws and welded away.

So instead of altering my 5/16 tool I built one for 3/16. Have about $35 in stuff I had to buy. (Already had some stuff) and about 2 hrs of my time. Have not painted yet but I'm pretty proud of my accomplishment.
