Hi to everybody,

First time posting a message in here but I've been lurking for the past month or so. It's a very interesting board....i've learned alot. I'm really new at sugaring....i've started last year with about 30 buckets. This year I'm planning on doubling the number of buckets. Onto my question.....Up here in the Ottawa region (Canada) it's been a very warm early winter.....even though for the past 2 weeks it's been very cold. I've noticed that there's some buds on many of my silver maples. Will this affect the amount of sap comes spring time? I'm just currious. Thanks in advance

With it being cold, if they have swelled any at all, I would think they would fall off with all this cold weather. :?

I don't feel that the warm weather that we had will affect the outcome in the spring. The amount of freeze/thaw days in the spring will be the governing factor as to how your season ends.
