hi all!

A few questions here for the experienced guys with tubing.

I just made the leap and purchased 3-16 tubing's and main. I installed it in the bush and all is ready to go by gravity. 10% slope.

when it will be time to tap, Do I start tapping closer to the shack or at the first tree 300 feet up? Does it make a difference on the natural vacuum?

Also, I believe I will need a 5-16 bit and how deep do I go into the sap wood?

Thanks for the info!

Dave

It won't matter which trees you tap first.

Drill your holes 1 and 1/2 to 2 inches deep

If you start at the bottom you want loose any sap if you start at top you can race the sap to the bottom in the long run it don't matter.

OK. Can I install 2 drop line on one tree if it is 2 feet wide? Some say if it is gravity vacuum only one drop line per tree? When I was tapping with buckets I did 2 to 3 taps on the same trees.

Yeah. It is fine to install two taps on a tree that is 2 ft. As long as a tree is 20" or larger it can take 2 taps. whether it is on vacuum or gravity it makes no diffrence.
