rust on bottom of tank

Friend has old collection tank that has a very thin layer of rust on the bottom of tank. Can anyone tell me what you could paint this with that would still pass as food grade.

When we have safety talks at work we always refer to "Best Practice" In this case the Best thing to do would probably be to find a different Tank. But if its all you have to work with & its for your own personal use Syrup wise, then you have to decide if its going to have an effect on you or your family. Probably not, but that's up to You.
