half of a 2 inch couple, 4 inches of 2 inch schedule 40 PVC pipe and a 1.125 hole saw. I use a zip tie to attach the bag. These will hang just fine on the 29 cent taps,.10395

I did the same thing, except cemented two 6 inch sections to the coupling and then cut the union in half with a sawzall. I used half the number of couplings then. I do like the coupling on the bottom, I feel it may be more secure than the dado cut, but, to each their own. :)

Not near the risk in the cutting I used a a porta band

I used PVC holders last year and they worked great. Here is a link to the plans I used:

By using 3" pipe instead of 2" it provided more weight which kept them on the trees in even high winds.
