Finally, we have some measurable snow in the forecast! Saturday and Monday look good. The temps have been good and cold and I have to admit, the bare ground has made it easy to get last-minute stuff done, but it would be nice to get a good base of snow before the season starts.

Is that what they're forecasting? I got a job at milford hospital coming up. That will be a great commute from springfield area!

Yeah, I kinda over-did the snow dance a little bit. Sorry about that.

I was wondering who to blame for this!!! I should be thankful. The only real damage is a missing mailbox. The post is fine but the mailbox is long gone. Hope all is well for everyone else.

Thanks Maple Mass for your help with bricking our 2x4 WF Mason today. That was the last big thing on our list. Now just lots of little things left on the "to do" list.
Swampmapleman, did you fire up that HF pump yet?

I'm really, really sorry about all this. Do you think if I said something like, "Finally, 4 gallons per tap and all 10% sugar," it would come true, too?

well the ground is insulated great now , before we get more single digit cold nights ( the next few days ) . then hopefully some good weather to come shortly after. still waiting to tap just not worth having to reseat taps after the deep freeze

Of course not. But if it's easier, you could shoot for 9% sugar. That'd be just fine!!!

UNCLE! That's enough dancing, thank you. Give it a rest. Taps gonna be ten feet high at this rate.

So looking at mid March???? That is by far the latest I've ever tapped.

Thanks for all the snow, Sean.
Kind of wondering if I'll be able to tap this year. Below freezing until March 1 and the snow banks are crazy high. If the weather switches to normal, my season will be over around the third week of March.
This season may be very short (but sweet)....

Grooming snow trails til 1 am...had to add new posts to other posts cause you can only read half the sign at five feet high. Clipped a stump in one spot...no it was the top of a fence post by the orchard. Good Lord it was a long night.

I can't even get to the woods with my snowmobile nor my ATV, too deep and light. If we get a warm day to settle the snow I will then be able to use the snowmobile. I've even been looking at getting tracks. Priced them at $3995 before frt. I can see them in my future, but not this year.

Was just looking back at last years record. Didn't tap until 3/6 and didn't get any decent flow until 3/20. Looks like this year will be similar, none of this starting in mid-February stuff like a few years ago. So, a couple more weeks yet. Really looking forward to the end of this winter. It's brutally cold out there right now.

I put out blocks for my roadside barrels when there was bare ground way, way back at the end of January. Digging them out and finding them hasn't been fun, but this one wins the prize. The shovel is on top of the blocks.

When you click on them, the pop up is right side up.
