So I am bringing home the extended evaporator this week, and next is the smoke stack. Would you guys use insulated pipe or single wall with flashing on insulators,

I used insulated pipe.

We used double-wall insulated 8" pipe that we got at Menards home center. Not sure if Menards is in your area, but we couldn't find insulated pipe anywhere cheaper. In fact, all their chimney pipe and accessories was the best price around. They sell an adapter that converts the single-wall base stack to the double-wall insulated pipe that works great.

Here's a link to an online stove pipe company that has really good pricing on most stainless steel components. Menard's may be better on some items. They don't charge shipping and handling on orders over $50. http://www.ventingpipe.com/all-stove-pipe/c15658?f3370=6&f3371=single%20wall&f3363=stainless%20steel

If you can return it before you use it, the most cost effective way to insulate the pipe exiting the sugar house is to wrap your single wall stack with ceramic blanket.10394
