Question about electric releaser

Had a used electric releaser given to me. My questions is do I put a pump inside the releaser or outside?

If inside you don't need a vacuum line to the pump, if outside you must have a small vacuum line from the pressure out side of the pump so that it is working in a vacuum environment or you won't be able to pump the sap. It only takes a little line, 5/16 does it. That line can just go back to one of your lines entering the releaser that in under vacuum.

Thanks Maple Flats for the reply. Now that brings up some other questions. Which is better in or out? What type of pump?
