what to use as a float?

ok I have my float box all done, it is 20"long, 9" tall and 9"wide, I also have the float valve. I am wondering if I should buy a float, or try and make one. --open to suggestions! if you think I should buy one please give me some vendor names

I used a stainless flask. Nice size, and flat. Cost $4 I had a buddy weld on a bracket to attach the rod from the float valve.

On my first evap I went to a plumbing supply house and got a copper toilet float...worked awesome and only cost like 10 bucks and screwed right to the rod

I have the same float valve as above and I have a 2 inch stainless float ball. In testing it doesn't seem to respond well to level changes. Will it respond better with some head tank pressure behind it?

Yes I believe pressure will take the "slack" out

I used this setup on my first rig but with a copper float. I found the float was too light and it would pulsate something wicked. I drilled a hole in the float top and added copper BB s until it settled down then soldered to hole closed.

well I found a flask, I think this will work nicely--

Be sure to gonto the hardware store and get a rubber O ring instead of the paper seal thats in the cap.

thanks for the advice on the flask, I think it is going to work great, does it seem to hold a constant level?

The valve itself doesn't have a real fine adjustment. But you can bend the rod a little and once you find the sweet spot it does well. Just remember to keep some head pressure in the head tank. I know when mine runs low the valve doesnt like to keep up the flow. I still like the setup though.
