Hello Everybody:

Is there a calculation available for how much power our blowers need? I think depending our our fireboxes each of us need more or less air.

I ask all this for my unit, 2x4 pan, firebox is approx 22x30 inches.

Would a hair dryer be enough air? Would a shop vac be too much air? I don't airbox CFM requirements well enough to know how many CFM,s I need.

Is a blower (AUF) with a dimmer switch needed?

Any input is welcome.

Thank-you.

Terry

If I remember right a 2 X 6 needs about 260 CFM for AUF. That is what I got and works well. Get one that is a little larger than you need and use a blast gate to tune in what works best for you.

I completely disagree with the blast gate for AUF. These fans run on 2 amps. It's just as expensive to get a dimmer switch, mount it on the wall or inline with the cord and regulate your air from a reasonable location. If you put in a blast gate you are looking at adjusting from the back of the arch or adding throttle cables.
