Plastic Wine barrels for sap storage

Theres a local winery that is selling some hdpe #2 wine barrels that either held juice or wine. Does anyone have experience using used plastic wine barells for sap storage?

If that is a bad idea what are some alternatives in the 30 to 55 gal range?

I have used the wine barrels and have not had any issues at all. I would be more skeptical of juice, but the wine barrels i've had, the alcohol smell would be really pronounced. I figure they are pretty clean if that's the case. I rinse them with a chlorine rinse and let air out. Check with the winery they may sell you a new unused one. The ones here will.
