Does anyone see a problem with taking a 6in pipe and transitioning it to an 8in? I ordered a CDL hobby unit and the stack takes 6in pipe. I would like to use some extra (from a wood stove install) metalbestos double insulated pipe starting at the roof penetration all the way to the cap. I have a 8in black pipe to metalbestos adaptor that will marry the two styles of pipe and was just thinking of a 6in to 8in reducer for the other connection. Will this improve or hurt my draft?

This should increase your draft. If you went the other way and reduced it from 8" to 6" you would decrease the draft.

they make a 6x8 increaser that should be available from any full line store that sells wood burning stoves or any sheetmetal shop can make one. Go 22 gauge min or 20 ga even better for long term durability but even 24 ga should hold well for 1 season. After the season brush it out to get it clean and keep it dry.
