The weather here in western NY is making it so Tempting to tap tubing if the weather continues I'll definitely tap second week of January if not sooner

I jumped the gun last year with half of my taps and they pretty much dried up before the real run came in mid to late March. Just ran out of syrup this week with all the family in town so I too can't wait for season to come.

Last year I was tapped by 1/20 and my first boil was on 3/27. They were still running as I pulled the taps in late April-early May. That is using CV2's

So which season are you trying for? You are in western ny...winter hasn't quite started. Are you doing these as fall taps?

When you pulled your taps in late April were you still getting a gallon a tap per day? Because I am a sap seller I chart all my runs. By taking the advise of Dr.Tim last year I tapped mid Feb and noticed a higher volume of sap per tap at the end of the season (April 20). This year I plan to tap a few weeks earlier then last but hope to still get high sap volumes in April.

Perhaps you should start your own thread in the "Tapping New York" section so we can all keep up with your progress.
