Hi all,

I just picked up a GE Merlin on an online auction for $15 with shipping it came to $40 something....I thought that was a great price so I jumped on it. It was supposed to be only for the housing I purchased but when I received it it had both membranes and the prefilter. The membranes were still wet but they smell just a little bit musty.....not too bad, just a little. I read a pile on RO cleaning tonight but there seems to be a bit of a mystery on how to properly clean a merlin membrane as GE is very secret squirrely about this. At least that is what I read. Has anyone had any luck with a specific homebrew for a cleaning solution?

I intend to make an RO like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BOO2L1RD2s&list=PL7w1Cs3YsjxfJOX0E53ggTt3eXqvlNKke

If anyone has any tips or tricks on the set up I would be more than willing to read them.

Thanks in advance for any info

Rob

I would start with new membranes... you will be boiling from the "dirty side" of the membrane. And make sure to eliminate any charcoal filters as well.

I had my fingers crossed that luck would stike three times but getting the system for $15 is good enough for me

Thanks Mellondome
