Anyone use a Kobalt 40 volt chainsaw?

Im considering buyin one of these for brush work along the lines. Not planning to cut anything big with it just brush i got big saws already. I have the weedwacker that uses same battery and its got plenty of power and life im hoping the saw will be simular

My better sense came over me and i spent a bit more for a Makita 5 inch 18v chainsaw. Its lighter and better and i know parts will be available whereas Kobalt has zero parts support.

I think Craftsman has a 19.2 volt and a 40 volt chainsaw. The 40 volt has great reviews, not sure if anyone on here has one.

Oregon has one. Works well on stuff under three inches and is very quiet.

Well so far the Makita 18v chainsaw has been impressive. Runs forever on a battery and cuts well. I like the quiet sound so it doesnt give the impression im clearcutting the forest when workin on lease land

I thought the makita saw was 36v, it takes 2 18v li-ions

They make on that way too. The two bat version has a 12 in bar and weighs over 11 lbs thats heavier than my tophandle Stihl saw. I wanted the lightweight 5 lb compact 18v one. Its 5 inch bar is great for brush and such

I had no idea they made a smaller version. I picked up the 36v model in the hardware store one day and thought it seemed like an expensive toy, but the small one sounds handy. I'll have to see if I can find that one. Where do you get chains for it?

The 18v can be had for a little under 200 online amazon ebay etc. Altho thats with no batteries. Im doesnt take the place of my gas chainsaws but it definatly has its uses trimming along lines. Power and run time are great. As for chains i bought a few online in oregon brand. Any saw shop should be able to make them too. I actualy have the rivet spinning tools here to do it but found em cheap enough it wasnt worth bothering
