The grading system takes effect in 2015 correct? So, can I use the tempory grading set available at Bascom and elsewhere and simply use the new nomenclature? Is anyone selling labels with the new grade names? Can't seem to find much on this.

I agree with Thompson's post, call (and join) the New York State Maple Producers Association, check the web site too. You can read copies of the newsletter "Pipeline" online I believe.

Also, since you mentioned Bascom's, just give them a call too. Often they've answered off the cuff questions for me when I'm ordering stuff.
take care, Mark

Bascom's has both kinds of labels, I just picked up some of the new ones last Friday. I've used the new system all of this year.

Thanks everyone. I did not see the new labels on Bascom's website, but obviously that doesn't mean they don't have them.

They are in the 2014 catalog. If you want the US labels the item numbers work if you search them online they are as follows LADT, LAART, LADRT, LADST the letters are acronyms such as LADT= Light Amber Delicate Taste if they have VT at the end they say Vermont. They are $5 a roll. The temporary International grade set is item# GRSTM $20.50

You can not use the old temp (nor permanent) grade kit and the new labels or names. The break points are not the same, they do not match up. Also, do not order light amber-delicate taste, the lightest grade is "golden"-delicate taste, Then Amber, dark and finally very dark.

Actually they neglected to put the G in the item numbers. LADT is Golden Delicate Taste Sorry I didn't catch that the first time.
